Another Altered Project

Another altered project kit from Pink Tulip in Spernal Ash - just like the advent calendar kit,  this kit also comes flat packed ready for assembly and decoration. It was very simple to put together and is made from high quality mdf and thick grey board. (Designed by Candy Box Crafts)

I used a selection of beautiful qulity papers from China Blue (also from Pink Tulip) to decorate both the inside and outside of the mini drawer kit. I used a White Distress Stain around the exposed edges of the drawers and added some blue ric rac at the top of the drawers. The drawer tags were made with a Memeory Box die and a Labels 25 die by Spellbinders. The edges of the little chest were then decorated with pretty 5mm blue gingham ribbon.

My Very 1st Advent Calendar

I have always wanted to make an advent calendar, so when I popped into Pink Tulip in Spernal Ash, I could not resist buying two of their advent calendar kits. The kits are made locally by two craftsmen (Candy Box Crafts) who laser cut all the pieces from MDF and grey board. The quality is second to none and it goes together like a dream.

It did take me two days to cover everything in Christmas paper and assemble, but it was the best two crafty days I have had in a long time.

The papers I used were a mixture of the new Turtle Dove collection by Kaisercraft, Holly Jolly by My Minds Eye and some freebie papers by Nitwits.

I added a few wooden snowflakes (also made by the same craftsmen) that I covered in gold stickles, and attached them to the calendar using small loops of clear acetate, to make them look as though they were floating in mid air.

Am so pleased with my efforts that I am tempted to keep it for myself! lol

Craftwork Cards Christmas Kit

Had some happy post this morning - the new Craftwork Cards Iconic Christmas Kit and I LOOOOOOOOOOVE it! This is the first card I have made with the kit which includes the wreath stamp, ribbon, candi, sentiments, cardstock and envelopes.

The great thing about Craftwork Cards is that they are publishing some great tutorial videos on their website, (featuring the fabulous Julie Hickey), which are available to all Privilege members and are full of ideas and inspiration

I coloured the image using promarkers and then added stickles and glossy accents to highlight a few of the baubles. I added a few little buttons of my own that toned quite well with the colours I used.

Think it will definitely be a Candi kind of Christmas for me this year!

Xmas 2012

I decided to have a little play with a Stamp, some Stickles and some Craftwork Cards Candi this evening, and had fun creating these three very simple cards.(Sometimes simple is best!)  Those who know me well will know I am addicted to Candi (I think I have every colour that Craftwork Cards have ever released! lol) . The stamp is the large heart wreath by Chloe and I used Ice Stickles in Gold Ice and Crystal Ice.

I am going to try and make 50 cards for my work colleagues, using the same stamp but with different combinations of Candi. I will add more photo's as I make them!

A Michael Powell Moment

Have had a lovely afternoon playing with a few Michael Powell images. Just matted and layered them very simply onto black textured card stock and then onto some plain white 5 x 7 cards.

I used the Layer Perfect Imperial tool by Cheetah Crafts to do the matting and layering, so quick and so easy to use with perfect results every time. Don't know how I managed without it for so long ... well actually I do ... I just made wonky cards before! lol

Feel free to click on the Cheetah Crafts link on my blog to see the tool in action or just search for Layer Perfect on You Tube, where you will see some great demos by Michelle Johnson.
